13 Minutes – A Teenager Thriller for Everyone

13 minutes by Sarah Pinborough is a young adult murder mystery thriller with a twist – the victim is still alive.  After being found floating in a river in the early hours of the morning and being clinically dead for 13 minutes, Tasha Howland is revived but has no memory of what happened to her.  Is there someone close to her who wants her dead?  Tasha decides to turn to an old friend for help.

13 minutes

I have to say, 13 minutes is currently winning as my favourite book of the year.  I really loved it.  It was sufficiently chilling and creepy while still somehow remaining a light and easy read.  None of the characters are particularly likeable which I normally struggle with but here it fitted with the development of the story and each of the characters had traits that made them feel like realistic teenagers.  There were temperaments and traits that seemed spookily familiar from when I was at school.

I am currently still in the thralls of this book and would heartily recommend it.  I give it 5 mobile phones out of 5
